THE PREMIUM CHOICE IN EPOXY COATINGS
Learn about the latest processes, highest quality materials, and best maintenance practices for indoor and outdoor concrete coatings.
Congratulations! You’ve just employed the services of Golden Concrete Resurfacing, Pennsylvania’s top-rated company in concrete floor coatings. Your new garage, basement, porch, or patio surface is shimmering like brand new – because for all intents and purposes, it is brand new.
But even though the job is done, the work isn’t quite finished. To preserve your new surface so that it keeps its epoxy sheen, you’ll want to follow a few simple steps. After all, our goal at Golden Concrete isn’t just to restore your surface temporarily – it's to keep it that way for a lifetime.
Give It a Little Time
We know you’re eager to step back onto your surface, put your possessions in their regular places, and generally restore your home to its previous state. However, it’s recommended that you allow 24 hours before stepping on your new floor after resurfacing. Additionally, you’ll want to wait 72 hours before setting furniture on the new surface or returning your vehicle to your remodeled garage. Remember – a three-day wait is nothing when your goal is to have the job last forever. If you act any earlier, you risk making indentations in the epoxy coating, amongst other potential blemishes that will inevitably require another coating.
Be Cautious When You Do Put Possessions Back
After 72 hours have elapsed, you’re free to return your furniture to their normal homes. However, we’d advise placing felt or padding underneath the furniture and other metal objects to avoid scraping or rust marks. You can remove the padding once the objects are securely in place, but you’ll thank yourself for exercising this added layer of precaution during the moving process. Likewise, if your car tires have plasticizers, use a car mat when parking on the coating. Otherwise, the plasticizers and fresh epoxy coating could mesh and lead to potential discoloration.
Use the Proper Cleaning Materials
When cleaning your new surface, treat it as you would a newborn: with the utmost care and delicacy. Thankfully, unlike a new baby, your floor won’t require much special care in its upkeep. A mop with plain warm water will be sufficient for routine cleanings, while dish soap can be added to tackle especially stubborn marks. If you’re cleaning a newly resurfaced garage or patio – where the presence of gravel and other abrasives is more common – use a broom or blower to remove this debris without scratching the new surface.
Check Back in a Decade
Although our jobs are designed to last a lifetime, accidents can happen, and some general maintenance might be necessary. In that case, we’re just a phone call away, at (484)-799-9089. But generally, your floor shouldn’t require attention for at least a decade. Once those ten years have passed, inspect your surface; you might find you want another topcoat, just as a refresher.
