The Sanctuary at Haafsville

Approximately 6.3 million stray pets enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year. Only 4.1 million of those are adopted. With such staggering numbers, some institutions sadly must devolve to euthanizing some of their occupants, with other no-kill shelters being constantly overcrowded. Shelters do indispensable work for the stray animals of our community, and The Sanctuary at Haafsville is one of the institutions fighting for the health, safety, and happiness of these furry friends.

The Sanctuary at Haafsville is a volunteer-based no-kill organization that partners with local overcrowded shelters to bring pets to where they belong – safe homes with loving families. In their first twelve years, they’ve saved over 12,000 animals, placing them in furever homes. They take great care in getting to know their residents to ensure ‘right match’ placements that are ready to start their lives in new homes vaccinated, spayed or neutered, treated for pests, and tested for diseases.

Supporting the Sanctuary

We encourage our customers and community to support local organizations, but the sanctuary has a special place in our hearts. If you’re interested in helping local furry friends waiting for a home, the shelter accepts donations, constantly operates fundraisers for specific animals and through the community, and they’re always looking for volunteers to help around the center. Considering adoption? One of the best ways to support a shelter is by adopting a new furry friend! The Sanctuary at Haafsville has a variety of dogs and cats waiting to meet their new families.

If you’re local, consider visiting The Steel Pub on May 19th from 1 pm to 4 pm for Cause For Paws, a fur-tastic fundraiser for The Sanctuary at Haafsville with live music. Tickets are $35 and include one drink!
